Frigidaire Gallery Ice Maker Fill/Cube Speed

Filed under: How To — Mr. Zero @ 11:05 pm

Since I started this blog the web has become a wasteland of AI slop. To get a simple answer to a question, you end up having to pore through a bunch of AI generated garbage or a video. Here is a simple text description of how to change the fill line (and thus the ice maker speed) of your Frigidaire Gallery Refrigerator Ice Maker:

  1. Press the “Water” and “Crush” buttons simultaneously and hold.
  2. The display will show “1C” and a stack of “-“s. The stack indicates the fill level for the ice maker. These correspond to the three fill levels of the tray.
  3. Use the Up and Down buttons to choose 1, 2, or 3 bars.
  4. Press “Crush” to save the amount you chose.

When the fill level is lower, the cubes will be smaller, and the ice maker will produce smaller cubes more often. When the fill level is higher, the ice maker will product larger cubes less often. This is a matter of physics.

Restore Cast Iron Cookware

Filed under: Advice,Cooking,How To — Mr. Zero @ 6:29 pm

I’m a big fan of cast iron cookware. It heats evenly, retains heat well, and is naturally nonstick after it is seasoned. It’s also incredibly durable and lasts for years. However, if it’s abused a little too much, it won’t perform and may need restoration. Curbly has a good piece on how to go about restoring rusty, disused cast iron cookware to like new condition.

If you are sitting next to someone who irritates you on a plane:

  1. Quietly and calmly open up your laptop case.
  2. Remove your laptop.
  3. Turn it on.
  4. Make sure the guy who won’t leave you alone, can see the screen.
  5. Close your eyes and tilt your head up to the sky.
  6. Then hit this link.
