Glenn Greenwald has a delightful series of quotes (vintage 2003) from commentators who damned CBS “The Reagans” miniseries a few years back. Not that it will stop them from being hypocrites in response to the ABC 9/11 movie.

Donkey Punch Fashion
The rise of the mooks (or proles, if you please) continues. Why does it not surprise me that a clothing line featuring references to a crude and misogynist sex act would be produced in Las Vegas? Vegas, you have so much to answer for.

Second to last
Science blog pharyngula has yet another disturbing post regarding attitudes about evolution. The results of a new study, indicates that Americans are lagging far behind (second only to Turkey) the rest of the world in terms of sophistication about (i.e. acceptance of) the theory of evolution. The study suggests that in addition to being uneducated on basic genetics, that science has become increasingly politicized. PZ Myers, author of the pharyngula blog, thinks that God and the Republicans are to blame.

Unusual Business Ideas That Work
I suppose that the intention of this site is to be inspirational, however, some of the ideas are so stupid that I can’t help but feel depressed about my life and about humanity in general.

Ringtone for the kids
As we get older, we lose our ability to perceive high-frequency sound. The New York Times has an article today about how this is being exploited using a high-frequency ringtone that young people can hear but adults cannot. Supposedly this comes in handy in the classroom. Nevertheless, if I could hear it, I might smack that phone out of the hands of the selfish little shit who’s taking calls in the classroom.

Boing Boing Sucks
Have you had just about enough of BoingBoing‘s ‘whimsy’ and the navel-gazing of the site’s authors. Finally come to the realization that the site is nothing but a platform for the self-promotion of its vapid authors? The backlash was boung to come sooner or later and come it has. Boing Boing has spawned two hate sites. The first is CorySucks.com, which uses an algorithm to calculate just how much Boing Boing author Cory Doctorow’s posts to the site suck. Then there’s XeniSucks.com, a much more personal site dedicated to attacking Internet flibbertigibbet and self-described ‘tech journalist’ Xeni Jardin.
